Chapter 70 “Every year it’s getting worse not better”
Happy Teachers’ Day to all teachers.
I wonder why some students have to show their appreciation for their teachers through gifts and all sorts when they don’t hand in their homework on time and doesn’t pay attention during lesson. Then what’s the point of being nice to your teachers only during teachers’ day? For show? Just be attentive and hand in your work on time, I believe that it’s the best gift a student can give.
And yesterday we had teachers’ day celebration concert. That is, if you call it a celebration and a concert. Every year the concert gets worse not better. From where we are sitting, we can’t even hear what the people on the stage are singing/saying. The sound system sucks. Then we can hardly feel the air conditioning system working. The most ridiculous thing is the magic show, you actually back face your audience and throw a dangerous looking fan hoping that it will hit someone so that he/she will come up on stage to entertain you? It’s not your wedding so don’t go around back facing people and throw. A guy like you should really wear a warning. Then we had the “Guess the teacher”, it’s there every year and the questions are so limited. “Hello students guess whose sweet voice this belongs to” – Guess the teacher. And then we had the wushu performance which is there every “concert”. Does it never get old? The funniest thing is that every year the students tend to leave even more earlier than the teachers despite the emcee saying “please allow the teachers to leave first” and it is more evident with the secondary ones. And there I thought that the secondary ones would stay longer than the other levels since they are new. Guess I was wrong.

Chapter 69 “When Love Takes Over”
On yesterday’s Miss Universe 2009, David Guetta and Kelly Rowland performed this song live. I previously heard this song on MTV and liked it cause I like the background music. It reminds me of a commercial but I just can’t put my hands on it. Does the background music ring a bell to you?
And then I just checked my ACE once again and found out that I have 11 ACE for Chinese which means that I didn’t have to join the sabbatical which I am in right now, but I wouldn’t want to join the Physics sabbatical which lasts to 5pm everyday. Oh well. This sabbatical is quite interesting anyway (minus the lectures). I heard we are having a tour around the clinic on Thursday.

Chapter 67 “The Wireless Mouse Arc”
About 2 weeks ago, I went to buy a mouse since my previous Logitech mouse was spoiled after using it for three years despite constant dropping and banging. Then I went to Harvey Norman and saw that Microsoft Arc Mouse that my Geography teacher was using, I like it since it looks so nice.
Then I found out that it was $89. Which I thought was quite expensive for a mouse which I might drop. Hence I still went with a wired mouse.
A few days later I went to a Apple Premium Reseller to find a new case for my iPhone, then I saw this mouse again. Guess what? To my surprise, the mouse was price at $69, thank goodness I didn’t purchase it previously!
Later, I also went to Courts to see the price of the same mouse to find that it was also selling at $89.
So the moral of the story? Survey prices in different stores before making your purchase.
Oh today I also went to find my Geography teacher and asked her if the mouse was good, she said it was comfortable. I gave it a try and find that it’s really nice to use.
But actually the mouse which I think is convenient and nice (although I haven’t had the chance to hold it) is the V550 Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks by Logitech.
Since the nano-receiver is much smaller and it actually comes with a dock which the mouse can be stored.
Isn’t it so nice?
Chapter 66 “May the dinner commence”
Today’s assembly, we had the last student forum, although not much “feedback” was given anyway. Then there were two issues brought up for the commencement dinner. One was that why spend $65 dollars on a dinner when he can spend $7 with his friends at the movies. Obviously there is much difference as if you mean going to the movies only, you would not have very much interaction, furthermore we are attending the dinner as a whole cohort and at the dinner we might have our final times together as a class. Side note: Too bad Xujun isn’t going.
Another thing is that one student actually requested “motivation to dress up nicely”. What a joke. The vice-chairman’s immediate response was “you mean girls?”. Oh please, you mean you actually require extrinsic motivation to dress up nicely and actually require someone’s presence to do so? Don’t you feel that there is actually a need to make yourself presentable for such an event? Does that mean if you are going to a wedding dinner where there are no one for you to impress, you would not dress up properly? Dressing etiquette is your respect for yourself and others where you dress up appropriately for an event, doesn’t he feel a need to do so? Oh well, I wonder what he is going to wear on that day as girls‘ presence on that night doesn’t seem to be possible as stated during the discussion, if he’s going that is.
Chapter 65 “Strangers; Acquaintances; Classmates; Ex-classmates; Friends; Enemies”
Wow, this is such a long title. I wanted to add “Good friends” to the title but it will be even longer. Oh and thanks to Marcus I remembered one more category - strangers.
In life, there are many acquaintances, they say it’s fate if you meet certain people, but is it more fateful if you were in the same class with a person, let’s say for more than 10 years? Or is it that you were just unlucky? Well then there is also the ex-classmates where after years of being together, you get separated with them. Perhaps you will keep in touch, or even lose touch, and finally find them after a million years, maybe then you will find that whatever unhappy incidents you had with him then were just so stupid. Then there are friends, friend whom you WANT to keep in touch and never lose touch with. Friends are those that you would want to find console in, someone who will listen to your troubles. And certainly not those who only come to you when they need help and push you aside when they don’t, if those people existed in my class, I would just label them as classmates then. There are certainly friends that I am happy to have them in my life and certainly hope the friendship will last forever. And finally there are enemies, those are the people who you may dislike and when the feeling is mutual, well I would go neutral as far as possible on this though.
I hope that I will be able to keep in touch with my friends and classmates (even though some may be enemies and the feeling is mutual) as one day we might look back and see how childish we really were.

Chapter 63 “Commercial Break”
We are supposed to film a short commercial for a competition with hygiene as the theme, which I presumed that the theme was inspired due to H1N1, how predictable. So we were shown some commercials.
How interesting and funny, you certainly wouldn’t know what they are advertising till the end or if you didn’t see the title.
I like this commercial as it shows the wonders of photoshop furthermore, it shows how beauty is perceived.
Finally the one which I saw on Chai’s blog, I like it cause I like the music at the end. But don’t think there’s any link with the product.
Oh and also this. I like the music in the video, too bad it’s made for the video and not from an album.
Oh well, wonder what kind of commercial we are going to come up with.
Chapter 62 “On a Perfect Bus Ride”
Today we had CCA, where we did our test print and partial printing on our shirts for the silk screen. After which I went home on the bus, there were many incidents. I boarded the bus along with a mother and daughter, they moved in only to be at the exit of the bus, standing there, hindering movement. Hence I moved in, ahead of them. There were 3 Polka-Dotted students sitting at the last row, they were chatting and laughing loudly. As the bus proceeds, people alight (duh). Then I found a seat at the second last row so I sat down. To my horror, the person behind me was doing the thing I hate most on a bus ride: broadcasting music from his phone. Thank goodness he alighted after 4-5 stops. I thought nothing could be worse than that, but I was wrong. Later two female students from a JC (which I shall not name) went to take over the seats behind me. And I found out that that was worse than when the person who was broadcasting his music. They were chatting so loudly with sudden hysterical laughter and if you happen to overhear their conversation, it was lame. So now the last row is filled with people who talks and laugh like there’s no one around.
In my opinion, a perfect bus ride would be a ride where you were the only passenger on the bus right? But that is almost impossible. I think the least is that it is quiet on the bus as we are all tired either at the start of the day or the end of they day, at least when you talk, talk softly. And certainly not broadcast music using your phone or whatsoever, there are such things called earphones you know? If you want to broadcast music go be a Dj then. There used to be 2 frequent old ladies who gossip on the bus early in the morning in dialect, and they would occupy 2 seats each side by side with each other disrupting serenity on the bus and unfortunately they alight at the same stop as I am, hence I had to endure the torment as even earphones cannot filter their voices.
And maybe after reading this you will minimize the usage of earphones… “Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times” Urban legend or fact? Well… I don’t know but after I have read that, I seemed to cut down usage of earphones. In any case, since it increases the bacteria, it doesn’t mean the bacteria can’t be killed or removed right?
